Jack has been my pet for little more than ten years as of writing this, and I never tire of him. My dad adopted him because his coworkers' cats had kittens, and needed to give them a loving home. My dad knew that I had wanted a cat for my whole nine year life at the time, and showed me pictures of all of them. I almost asked if we could have all of them... but even kid me knew that wasn't gonna happen ^^;
In the photos, I saw none other than Jack. The cutest cat I had ever seen, so cute that I refused to believe he was a boy. I was a nine-year-old girl at the time, I wouldn't be that ridiculous now. While I was gaslighting myself into believing he was a girl, I named him Lexi upon adoption. This was until the vet 'diagnosed' my cat as male. I've accepted it since.
Because I've had him since he was a kitten, he believes I'm his mother and often rests on my chest, unlike his adoptive brother who does not treat me like such. He's also a good roommate, other than meowing very loudly to wake me up at night. He also runs around the my room a lot. He's... definitely a cat, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Other than misgendering my cat for the first year or so, I've tried my best to be a good parent to him. He used to be so small, and I can hardly believe it! I can't believed I lived without him before, he's been there for me for such a long time... he's so sweet. He's always there for me when I need a shoulder to cry on.
