What is Pokemon?

There is no way to introduce Pokemon in a way that has never been said before, nor a way to introduce Pokemon as most people already know what it is as a franchise. It's a multimedia franchise about fictional creatures called Pokemon. The series revolves around training and catching these Pocket monsters.

My experiences with the series were at first watching the anime when I was a child. I also have several plushes that I got before I even played the games—in which I didn't play a single game until I was 11.

While this shrine cannot be informative in nature, it exists for me to ramble about my longest running special interest. I will be talking about my favorite games, my favorite Pokemon, my opinions on the Pokemon series in general, etc!

My Favorite Pokemon Game

I have so much to say about generation five that I made it into its own page, but to keep it short, I love the story, I love the characters, I love the music, I love everything about it. I do have some of that first Pokemon game nostalgia for it, but even if I wasn't nostalgic, they are good video games even in their own right. The sequels improved upon them in every way, too. My other favorite pokemon games that come really close are Heartgold / Soulsilver, Platinum, Sun / Moon, and Colosseum/XD.

My Favorite Pokémon

My favorite Pokemon may have little to do with my favorite games that I hold so close to my heart, but my favorite Pokemon is Jirachi. Why? It's just so cute!

I tend to like Pokemon based on a combination on whether I like their design and how good they are in battle... as well as how attached I get to them when playing with them on my team. I never thought the day would come where I would get to use a Jirachi in a Pokemon game, but in my Shining Pearl playthrough, I got them as the gift for having owned Pokemon Shield. That was the best thing that came of me owning that terrible game. I was surprised by just how versatile Jirachi was, yet it's not a mash-a and win Pokemon, either. SP proved to be incredibly easy for me with only some decently challenging moments sprinkled in, but you bet my trusty Jirachi named "Mechawish" was there on my team when I beat Cynthia. SP bringing back Pokemon following you didn't help in how attached I grew to Jirachi as a Pokemon, as I felt I was 'friends' with my Jirachi in classic Pokemon Trainer fashion. It's not like I was a baby when I played SP either, I was seventeen years old! I just think Jirachi is neat and cute, which is my only reason. I've since transferred it to my Violet save, with the rest of the Pokemon I've used in my playthroughs over the years!
